RENTING UPLIGHTING FOR YOUR EVENT 

One of the simplest and most cost-effective ways to transform your event space is using uplighting fixtures.  Uplighting is highly impactful and can change the room's color from the floor to the ceiling and the feeling or vibe.  Just like music, lighting can be set to give a southing feel or create a high-energy atmosphere.  No other rental product can transform a space at such a low cost.  Uplighting is a Must Have, as you decide what you can and can't live without on the day of your event or wedding.  

WHAT IS EVENT UPLIGHTING?

Big D Party Rentals, we have two types of uplighting fixtures in our rental inventory; the first is our standard LED PAR Fixture; these fixtures are corded and require continuous power via their power cord.  However, this is a great option when working with a budget, and the uplights will be placed along the interior walls.  Our other option is our Wireless LED PAR light fixtures that come pre-charged and can be placed anywhere in the event space without the need to be plugged into a wall outlet.  The battery-operated wireless units have a slightly high rental rate but allow for extreme flexibility and can be placed quickly.

WHAT COLOR UPLIGHTS SHOULD I USE? 

Uplights can be set to display a single color for the duration of the event, or they can be programmed to go through a series of different colors throughout the evening.  The color changing can happen very slowly, with the color changing from one color to another every 10 minutes for a nice relaxing effect, or it can occur rapidly, which creates a high-energy impact that is great for the dance floor.  The color-changing flexibility works well for weddings as the dinner portion of the event can be lit with a soft white or amber light and can be switched to a color rotation of red, green, blue, violet, and magenta to create a party atmosphere when it's time to move to the dance floor.  LED Uplights can be programmed to an RGB Scale (Red, Green, Blue), which allows you to select the perfect shade of the color you want.  For instance, if you must have the uplights set to Tiffany Blue, the lights can be arranged at R:10, G:186, and B:181, giving you the perfect hue for Tiffany Blue.  Again, we recommend using Rapid Tables for finding the RGB color value. 

HOW MANY UPLIGHTS DO I NEED TO RENT FOR MY ROOM OR EVENT SPACE? 

There isn't a magic number of uplights, but we recommend a minimum of 12 LED Uplight Fixtures for a small event space if you want to light the entire room (4 walls).  The light fixtures should place 6-to-12 feet apart as each light should illuminate a 3-to-4-foot area of the wall (width).  The more lights that are close together will create a wall wash effect, and the further you spread the lights out will create an accent effect.  

If your budget is tight, but you want uplighting, you can always do a specific area or focus on a single wall, and we often recommend doing uplights on the wall opposite the guest's point of entry.  Then, as soon as the guests walk in, they will be in a visual line of sight of the uplights. 

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO RENT UPLIGHTING FOR MY WEDDING OR EVENT? 

As you work through your event planning budget, understanding each category's costs is essential.  As previously mentioned, uplight rentals have one of the best cost vs. impact ratios of all the items on your event or wedding list.  In addition, Uplighting is so impactful that you can reduce the amount of décor in other areas, so uplight often can be a cost saver when looking at your overall budget. 

UPLIGHT RENTAL CALCULATION

To calculate the cost of renting uplights, you will need to measure the interior perimeter of your event space and decide how far apart you would like to space the uplighting fixtures (6' to 12 feet is recommended).  Now take the number of uplights multiplied by $35.00 for the wired option or $50.00 for the battery-powered wireless option.
